I decided to add grow lights to my seed starting rack and to my microgreens rack. I spent hours reading reviews and watching videos of different lights before I decided to go with the Barrina T5 LED grow light system. This system includes 8 LED grow lights and is very reasonably priced.
I am using a rack that is 2 feet deep so I wanted a 2 Ft light. The Barrina came with everything that I would need so that I could easily unbox it, mount the lights and plug them in.
It came with 3 options for mounting the lights:
- Zip Ties
- 3M Tape
- Clips and screws
Any of the mounting options would work with my racks so I chose to use the included zip ties. This let me mount them quickly right where I wanted them. It also makes it easy to move them if I decide to rearrange the grow space on my racks.
Barrina designed the lights so that they can be powered individually or they can be connected in series so that one switch turns them all on or off.
The picture on the left shows the power cord and the 2 foot long power adapter used to connect the lights in series. They recommend placing no more than 16 of the 2 foot lights in series or 8 of the 4 foot lights.
I placed 4 lights above each shelf and wired them in series so that the lighting for each shelf is controlled by one power switch.
I then plugged the two power cords (one from each shelf) in to a surge suppressor and plugged the surge suppressor in to an Intermatic TN311 mechanical timer. I set the timer to turn the lights on at 7AM and to turn them off at 11PM.
I just set this up today so I don’t know what the results will be yet. I will say that I like that the grow light package came with 8 lights and all of the mounting hardware that you could possible need.
If you are looking for an easy to use LED grow light then I think the Barrina T5 LED Grow light package is one that you should take a look at. You can click the image below to check it out on Amazon.
